Rejection

Week after week after week, we've been diligently searching for units to rent and going inspections after inspections. Every week, we found a few that we really like and sent in our applications.

Every unit we applied, we got rejected. This is so frustrating! Is it because we're new in Melb and thus do not have a financial/rental history? Or is it because I'm not employed and my hubby is the only breadwinner? Or is it because we don't look like nice people?

WHY ?!?!?!?

Last two weekends, we applied for two units. And both of our application was rejected...

Application #1
Background: This is a newly built unit. What the owner did is: He/She bought/has a biiiiiig piece of land. Then, the owner built a 2-storey apartment with several little units. It's new & clean. With good lighting, heating, gas cooking, bathroom, bedroom with wardrobe, etc.
Reason of rejection: Apparently, someone bid the unit with a higher price!! And, knowing that the unit is able to fetch a very high rental price, the owner decides to open the unit for another inspection and see how high the bid will go.

Application #2
Background: This unit is not new, but it's very clean and tidy. It's a few steps away from supermarkets, markets and even the train station. What the owner did is: He/She bought/has a biiiiiig piece of land. Then, the owner built a BIG 2-storey bungalow, with several 1-bedroom units. We really love the place and the unit. It has good lighting, heating, gas cooking, bathroom, bedroom with wardrobe, etc. And it comes with a washing machine!
Reason of rejection: I personally don't think there are many applications for this. There were only 3 groups of people (including me and my hubby), and the agent forgot to bring the application forms. BUT, we got rejected... Why? The agent said the owner is very picky...
My opinion: Picky !??!?!??!?

And thus, my dream is to own a BIIIG piece of land. Built half a dozen of one-bedroom units. And rent to people. And be picky on the rental application...
